Solar Power Generation
While one of our goals is to go 100% solar power generation onsite, and another goal to go 100% solar power generation onsite with 100% battery storage, we are still growing (and need your help) so we don't have the ability to do this yet. We have solar power generation on-site to generate some of our power, but the remaining is generated at a near by solar facility who dedicates the remaining amount we don't generate on site to us from the power they generate. The facility is called Sheep Creek Community Solar Farm and is part of our power companies' Community Renewables Program. The Community Renewables Program is Green-e® Energy certified and meets the environmental and consumer-protection standards set forth by the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS), a nonprofit that creates policy and market solutions to advance sustainable energy. Green-e® Energy requires that sellers of certified renewable energy disclose clear and useful information and the solar farm is Green-e® Energy Certified New Renewables.
Power from the Sun
The Sheep Creek Community Solar Farm is a 3.793 megawatt (MWac) renewable energy solar farm situated on 20-acres an hour north of our data center in the desert. It is connected to the same power system we draw power from. It consists of over 7,000 525 Watt Bifacial solar panels mounted on a compressed air sun tracking system.
Annual Environmental Impact
This solar farm is estimated to have a CO₂ Reduction of 5,065 tons or an impact equal to planting 76,591 trees.
